London based musician and visual artist Max Mason is set to release a new single ‘I Don’t Know How to Get Away’, alongside a self-directed music video. The track is an ode to the need to escape; the persistent human inclination to get away from your surroundings, be those external or internal.

 

An explosive piece of alternative rock music, shifting through layers of washed out guitars, dance floor-ready synthesisers and propulsive drumming. Surreal and dense, yet filled with melodic hooks and playful production.

 

The song was recorded in a variety of spaces, starting its life as a bedroom demo. Max then recorded live drums for the tune at a studio and proceeded to take the song through various incarnations, employing guest musicians to provide additional guitars and bass. Max draws from the frantic rhythms and vocals of Talking Heads, the lush guitar work of Cocteau Twins, the danceable interludes of New Order and the over the top, energetic aesthetic of hyper-pop.
